Restored 1933 Geologic Map of Pinnacles
A restored map of the geology at Pinnacles National Monument, originally compiled by Philip Andrews in 1933. Map was flattened, taped, scanned in parts, and patched together with the Gimp. An interesting Flash application allows for interacting with large images: Zoomify. Although this tool lacks features found in other popular online mapping applications, it makes for a nice interface to geographic data when all that is needed is a zoom and pan function. The basic Zoomify product is free, with both windows and macintosh versions.
