Digitizing the Soil-Veg Database
- 9/26/2007: 619 pedons scanned, processed, and inserted into a database. 142 un-published chemical data sheets scanned, but will require some work to process.
approximately 25 hours of proof-reading still required
- In total 18 minutes of time spent per pedon record, including development time. Future projects will require approximately 9 minutes per pedon record.
- 11/02/2007: All chemical forms have been proof-read. Remaining tasks:
- convert horizon designations to modern conventions
convert columns from text into numeric where applicable
- 12/01/2007: Chemical forms are digitized, but not updated to modern conventions. Profile descriptions have been completely digitized. Remaining tasks:
- convert horizon designations to modern conventions
- Split horizon data into specific fields
- 05/05/2008: An additional 77 forms have been processed. Remaining tasks:
proof-read chemical data form
- proof-read and chunk profile forms
